Be Inspired – RVA’s Melanie Wade Takes Cosmetics into Her Own Hands with ModGyrl (@ModGyrl)

How could you have “Diva” at the end of your name and not appreciate great fashions, cosmetics, and style? I don’t know, but if you find someone with the answer to that, tell them to get at me.

ModGyrl creator and founder Melanie Wade knows fashion and cosmetics. As an admitted lip-gloss addict, she decided not to be a buyer but a creator and trendsetter of some of the most innovative lip-glosses around. In her beauty lab, also known as her kitchen, she designs bright, sexy, and beautiful colors for the woman who dares to stand out.

She places her passion into the product, by not only making it something gorgeous to wear, but also safe for the wearer as well. By infusing her lippies with Vitamin E and staying educated on the industries leaders, she plans to stay a step ahead of the average cosmetic creator.  She informs her fans and followers about the dangers of lead-based cosmetics, not to persuade but to inform. It’s important to her that you know what is in the products you buy, and she stands behind the fact that her cosmetics are completely natural and beneficial to woman and girls.

I was fortunate enough to try two samples of her amazing lippies recently and all I received were rave reviews. It’s amazing how a great lip color can literally stop people in the street and ignite conversation. It goes to show that Melanie is on the right track when it comes to knowing what trendsetters love. The colors I had were called “My Antique Coin” and “Prima Donna” both were contrasting hues but offered me plenty of versatility. “My Antique Coin” was a more earth tone, gold and bronze hue. This was my go to shade when I attended the Artisan Café Event, March 10. It was amazing how I was able to incorporate both colors into my makeup routine, but I was surprised at how much this color in particular was received by many women. With my skin tone and natural hairstyle, it was the perfect finish to my look, and based on the responses Melanie really created a winner.

“Prima Donna” was a beautiful hue as well. Offering a frosty motif to my style each day I wore it, it was definitely a stand out type of shade. What surprised me more about this particular color is how easy it was to wear it all the time. As spectacular as the color is, I assumed I would only be able to wear it out, dressed to the nines, and stunting. However, I turned that into my casual shade for the time being, making my normal lip-gloss almost non-existent.

Both shades were a wonderful addition to my makeup bag, and much love to Melanie for being the mad-scientist she is and creating such an extraordinary product. They go on smooth and they truly last a long time. If you are a constant “lip-licker” like me (yes, I constantly lick my lips, regardless if I have lip-gloss on or not, sue me), then you can rest assured that her lippies are safe and lead-free. I have also tried adding a clear coat of lip-gloss as my base on occasion as well, which helped me avoid any creasing what so ever, especially after 9 hours of wear. Sometimes when you are a fashionista on the go, you don’t have time to re-apply every hour, with ModGyrl that was not an issue at all.

Make sure you check her out; she is really talented but also humble and gracious. To be beautiful most people think that’s enough, but she matches her beauty with wit, and a conscious for her customers. Although she is just starting out, she was adamant about providing her clients with a luxury experience for as little as possible. She decided to hand design her bottles with crystals and rhinestones, complementing your purchase with a signature style. What more could you ask for, a true entrepreneur thinking beyond herself… thinking about you.
