I don’t know if Richmond has stepped it’s game up lately in the fashion and style department, or all the fashionable people only come out to certain events. Either way, Artisan Café is the place to be when you want to be surrounded by the beautiful and stylish. It’s also the place to be for shopping, networking, and entertainment, but we’ve told you that before. This time I wanted to share the hottest trends in Richmond right now right off the backs of those in attendance at one of Richmond, Virginia’s hottest events. Take a peak at what we wore to Artisan Café’s Fall 2012 edition held at Plant Zero this weekend.
Braids and Naturals
As reported a few months back, braids and naturals are in full effect in Richmond, Virginia. Every female with pride in her culture and an ounce of fashion sense is either rocking her natural or opted for what I refer to as ‘90’s style box braids. From regular black and brown hues, to various shades of reds, blondes, and other colors, women everywhere are loving the versatility of natural hair and braids. I for one, can’t get enough of my hairstyle. I wear it up or down depending on the day and outfit, and I can see I’m not alone. Previously rocking a curly afro myself, I chose to do braids for a while as a protective style. I see I’m not alone, RVA is full of beautiful chicks all showing their creativity with natural and braided styles.
Animal Print
Our animalistic desire to be fresh to death is coming out, as Richmond’s fashionistas chose animal spots at this weekend’s event. Dressed up or dressed down, animal prints can go from sexy and dolled up to casual and layed back. Whether in jeans or skirts, these ladies knew how to put together a great mix of animal prints and colors that complimented their styles and body.
Color Galore
Unlike “Kimye” (Kanye and Kim Kardashian), most of us aren’t wearing a lot of black to make a fashion statement but more so out of fear. We choose blacks and neutrals to get more out of our clothes versus picking colorful pieces that dare us to be creative. I used to be in that boat, too. We aren’t all made out of shopping money. However, those days are over! With the new trend of mixing prints and wearing bold patterns, the chic and sexy of RVA has got a hold on this way of style. From bright prints to even brighter lips, Artisan Café was filled with stylish mavens who weren’t afriad to touch the rainbow.
Sophisticated Elegance
There are very few women that can make something as simple as a fedora look so cool, that it makes you want to take down your top knot and rock one of your own. These women were in the building this weekend. Along with cool hats were a bevy of sultry dresses and shoes, captivating blazers and sophisticated sillouttes. Goes to show you can never be overdressed when you have a gorgeous fashion perspective. These beautiful women did it right in prints, stripes, lace, nudes, and of course accessory sparkle.
If you haven’t been to Artisan Café yet, what in the world are you waiting for?? From networking and shopping, to performances and delicious food, this is the answer to all of our prayers when it comes to Richmond Virginia (RVA) nightlife. Come mingle with like-minded individuals and see the awesomeness for yourself.
* Later in the week, I’ll be doing a style steal from some of my favorite outfits of the attendees. Come back to GaptoothDiva.com for that and see how you too can look as fashionable as the people depicted without breaking the bank.
