I love some of the fashion and style choices of the people I meet on the street and at RVA events. I wanted to dedicate a regular post that will celebrate their unique choices. I also wanted to help others figure out ways to create fun and interesting outfit with items that cost less than $50 dollars at local retailers. I believe style doesn’t have to cost that much, for you too look good. Once you see something you love, regardless if it came from Nordstrom or a Flea Market, you can make it your own with just an ounce of confidence.
Check out the style of Raymond, The Man in Black. I caught him on the busy streets of RVA just looking chilled and relaxed, yet so utterly chic. With just a black t-shirt, blue jeans, and simple shoes, he managed to stand out from the crowd. I don’t like to believe that fashion and style options are too unavailable for men, and neither should you. Style isn’t about the glitz and glamour, but about comfort, function, and design. It doesn’t have be a loud outfit that screams you in the room. Raymond proves that the simplest of combinations can make a man look like he’s a six-foot model. So let’s steal his style….

Let me start from the bottom to the top. I know that these may not be a style choice for many men (per se); however, these $16 – Black Gold Stud Smoking shoes from myhotshoes.com are too hot to skip over. First, the added comfort of just slipping a shoe on is the big payoff anyway. In addition, the studs give them that edge that a simple black t-shirt and jeans could use. However, for the guy that’s just not feeling the loafer, I added these Men’s Silver Metal Stud Spiked high tops as a choice. These sneakers can be worn casually or dressed up a little…. Think blazer and/or cardigan.
Add these Asos Skinny Dark Blue Jeans for $41 – asos.com and you’re half way there.
Now to the Tees! I couldn’t find the exact shirt that Raymond is wearing, but that’s cool. We have options here. I chose the $32 Adapt The Come Correct from karmaloop.com, the $32 JACK & JONES Tulsa Tee from jackjones.com, and just in case it starts to get too cold (because it eventually will) the $13 Old Navy Long Sleeve from oldnavy.gap.com. All of these are great options to achieve the look that Raymond has on (above). Nothing too extreme or bright, but they all make a bold statement paired with the shoes and the crisp dark blue jeans. #POW
Now it’s something about a person bold enough to rock accessories and I’m for it. Raymond showcases his arm candy and we want to as well. Check out this $17 River Island Bracelet Pack and $6.90 Asos Bead and Skull Bracelet from asos.com . I love it! I also added the $10 GUESS Rosary with Oval Black beads from guess.com and a $49 12mm Dome Tungsten Carbide ring from etsy.com. I feel unbalanced with out a necklace, earrings, or a ring on. Therefore, I thought I’d give a few options to choose from and leave what you don’t need.
Guys, it’s not that hard to look stylish without all the extra bells and whistles. Raymond makes it look good and so can you. Just see for yourself how you can make a black t-shirt look like a must have on your own body. Wait for all the compliments as they pour in.
*If the night gets chilly, you can always add a basic black blazer, or one with some color or print to add more interest in the outfit.
Thank you to Raymond for allowing us to steal his style!

Posted by iGrind | October 11, 2012, 12:17 amThanks for checking it out. The jeans aren’t for everyone, but for those interested in stealing his outfit. Next time I might make some alternative options for those who may not want to steal the entire outfit. Thanks for the idea.
