New Radio Show, New TV Show, New Perspective… It’s All Positive.

A few people reached out to me in the last couples of months, seeing things that I wasn’t sure were being exuded through my behavior. I have something. That something, not quite sure what to identify as of yet, is an aura that makes people want to move, do, and be. I’m aware of it, but most of the time I admittedly dwindled it down, because I fear people getting upset and uncomfortable. I carry myself a certain kind of way. It’s not something I consciously do, it just happens. A regal attitude that comes from training my mind, “I am beautiful and I do deserve the best, therefore I am”, a mantra I developed over the years of transforming from just plain I’esha to I’esha GaptoothDiva. I own it, and now I want people just like me, who once felt inferior to own their as well. I want to be a service to my community and motivate women, young and old, to never listen to the background noise of people calling you out your name and saying what you should do or be, but that internal voice of God. That feeling inside that you were loved before you knew what love was, that your destiny is bigger than you can ever imagine and if you just reach for it, you will eventually touch circumstances that will blow your mind. I have that now, and it’s my life’s dream to make other people feel that exact way. The grace of God and love of oneself and others is so unimaginable; I yearn to reach so many before it’s all said and done.

GaptoothDiva and RVAlien R3 Radio: Real Ratchet and Raw Radio TeamA few months ago, talking about this very passion led to me developing another internet radio show with a friend of mine, Daitron Winston (RVALien). However, he informed me about some adversity that I never realized existed. I prayed on it and I kept it moving, I knew this was a journey with purpose and God was going to make it with us. Despite a few hiccups and some “internet thugging”, I still maintain that I wish the best for all people. I truly believe that everyone has a voice, what you use it for is your business, but my overall mission is anointed.

R3 Radio: Real Ratchet and Raw Radio TeamI’m excited to introduce R3 Radio: Real Ratchet & Raw, because our show touches on those very perspectives. You have the truth, a real way of looking at life, culture, and our circumstances. You also have the raw way of dealing with it, no love, and no heart, just black & white. In addition, because it sells and is so prevalent in our community, people are floating toward the ratchet because it’s easier and more popular right now. I pride myself on never selling out, so I wanted a show that celebrated that perspective of keeping things wholesome but entertaining.Down the line, I want my kids to be proud of my behavior and the things I discussed, so I don’t call women “b*tches”, I don’t disrespect people because its funny, I truly keep it love and awesomeness, because that’s what I want the world to return back to me. Daitron feels the same way. So tonight at 9pm thanks to Soul Cypher Productions, we deliver that to you every week. I’m so excited!

Joe'i Chancellor of Talk about like a dog

With the radio show, the clothing, modeling, and writing, what else, could I add to my plate? Well, someone saw something in me and felt other people should see it as well. I praise God for the moves He is making because motivation came from an unlikely source. Someone that I have always admired and thought was very hard working, Joe’I Chancellor will be executive producing my very own show on Comcast 95 / Verizon 36 this Fall, October 2nd 2013. The GaptoothDiva Show will highlight issues that either I believe we shy away from or we downright don’t understand. Again, this venture will be on the positive tip, but with lots of entertainment and fun. Women need to see exactly what we are doing to each other, how we break our own gender down but expect respect from men. It’s a contagion of disrespect to each other and ourselves, and I’m on a mission to change that by any means necessary. I hope you all tune in for that as well, because it’s going to be an experience.

Ladies on the couch at the Joe'i Chancellor featuring GaptoothDiva

I had the pleasure of going on the Joe’i Chancellor Special Edition show with her this past Friday. She is funny and I enjoyed myself so much. It made me see that although a lot of detail goes into it, it really is an easy thing to do, I’m excited to jump right in and get to work. Because Joe’i and I discuss issues with women regularly, I know that I’m not alone in feeling that there is genuine disconnect. If no one tries to fight this issue and bring solutions to the table, then we will never overcome any obstacles and will forever be doomed to warring with one another rather embracing each other. I don’t want my children to grow up in a world where women hate each other. I don’t want to live in one either. Therefore, with these new projects, I plan to shed light on these issues and more, bringing positivism back to your media and in your hearts.

Camp Diva’s 2013 Date With Dad Dinner and Dance, Gave Us All a Reason to Start Over

GaptoothDiva attends 2013 Camp Diva Date With Dad Dinner and Dance

Last year my husband had the awesome privilege of attending the Camp Diva Date with Dad Dinner and Dance, and came home talking about how amazing the whole event was. Naturally, we discussed all the beautiful dresses the girls wore and the fathers who compassionately accompanied their daughters to this event, which celebrated love and the bond between father and daughter. At the time my relationships with my own father was strained and virtually in limbo, so I felt my heart tug when my husband joyfully described the love and affection shown to each girl by her father. It was the pictures that depicted fun, excitement, and grandeur, which made me want to attend the event this year on my own. However, it was my husband’s powerful testimony that enticed me to make the decision to repair the relationship with my father and bring him along, with my two sisters as well.

GaptoothDiva attends 2013 Camp Diva Date With Dad Dinner and DanceI knew from the very beginning that God had his hand in this situation. As I was preparing to talk with my Dad about attending, my sisters had already caught wind of the event through social media, as I was tweeting and posting it to Facebook. Immediately when I suggested that we should all go, they both squealed in delight. “This will absolutely bring us all together!” they exclaimed. It was just a matter of asking my Father. When I arrived at my father’s house to ask him, I must admit I was nervous. In my late twenties, I have never embarked on something as wonderful as a father/daughter dance. I would have never imagined inviting my father to an event like this, or even him attending one with me. We just were never that type of father/daughter team. Neither my sisters nor I knew what was going to happen, but I stepped out in faith and invited my Dad anyway. My Dad immediately said “yes!” I was ecstatic. He said it sounded like a great idea and he too wanted to start spending more time with us and create a stronger bond with his daughters. This was going to be an experience I never wanted to forget.

GaptoothDiva attends 2013 Camp Diva Date With Dad Dinner and DanceI prayed on it the whole way through. Most of us were struggling financially, trying to make ends meet and pay bills. Just barely keeping our heads above water, I faced the challenge of paying for all four of us to attend the event. With tickets costing $25 each, I knew I wanted to contribute to the event and deliver an awesome experience to my sisters and father at the same time. I had to get to work. The Date with Dad was my priority. Most of the people I talked to were difficult to close on the idea that they too should contribute to this monumental occasion, some even suggested that it might not be worth it. Here I am trying to help and create a wonderful memory for not only me, but other girls and their fathers too, and obstacles were coming from left and right. I pressed on, I sold clothes, I contracted work, and saved pennies just so that I could attend with my family and give them the night I promised. I could only imagine the work that the women of Camp Diva have to put into what they do. They are truly an inspiration. The ability to keep explaining your vision, your dream, and your purpose to people, in the hopes that they too buy into it and can contribute a small iota of assistance to see it flourish… it monumental. Those women are amazing!

GaptoothDiva attends 2013 Camp Diva Date With Dad Dinner and DanceI finally got the money together and I paid for my ticket, Glory to God! We scheduled a date to help my Dad find a suit, which for some reason was rescheduled three to four times due to scheduling conflicts. However, when we finally got together, it was an awesome Saturday afternoon. We laughed, we cracked jokes, and we talked. Something we rarely get to do with him on our own. It’s that nervous feeling around him, as if you’re meeting someone for the first time. We ask ourselves constantly, “Does he know this” or “Have I told him this”. This event was going to be the catalyst to jump start a relationship with our father. This was going to be the marriage of a father/daughter bond that we never experienced. We wore variations of white and gold, because we were solidifying a solid bond with this man, who we have lived with our entire lives, but know rarely anything about. Our Dad, who has always provided for us, but never really tried to get too close. This was our chance to change what history has tainted, and I couldn’t have been more excited if I tried.

GaptoothDiva attends 2013 Camp Diva Date With Dad Dinner and DanceThe night was beautiful! In gown and dresses, my sisters and I stepped out with our father in a spectacular way. I walked in a saw all these beautiful little girls and gorgeous women, all adorned in pretty dresses and incredible smiles. My Dad was dapper in his suit and tie, looking nervous but excited himself. He cleans up well, and we were so proud to have him on our arm. As we ate and drank punch at the table, marveled by the beautiful families around us, we laughed and joked the whole night. I am not going to lie and say that we weren’t at the table waiting and ready to get “turnt up”. I wanted to dance and watch everyone else get his or her party on as well. So right after the celebration of the Real Father Award Winners: Congratulations to Harold Coles Jr., Scott Randall, Thomas Nixon, Anson Owen, and Nelson B. Farrar and the Father/Daughter game with Actor Chad Coleman (Miss Evers Boys/The Wire), Juan Conde (Anchor with TV 8) led us into the dance portion of the evening.

GaptoothDiva attends 2013 Camp Diva Date With Dad Dinner and DanceMy Dad was a straight crazy man on the dance floor and I loved it. We laughed at his silliness and delighted in his ability to just let go and be free. It’s times like this when I realize that time is never promised to us, and if I could make that moment in time last forever, I would. Nevertheless, I soaked in every minute of it, and enjoyed every second. He talked with Juan Conde and shared stories about us when we were little, listening to him on the radio when Juan was with Power 92. He was so excited. He ran and took pictures everywhere and profiled in his suit, something he doesn’t get to wear often enough. I was proud to have him with me that evening. My sisters looked beautiful and my Dad was so excited, the evening turned out better than I could have ever imagined.

GaptoothDiva attends 2013 Camp Diva Date With Dad Dinner and DanceWhen I think about what Angela Patton and everyone with Camp Diva are doing, have done, and are attempting to do with these young girls in Richmond, I kind of wish I was a little girl again. I wish I had this when I was younger, because we wouldn’t be trying to begin a relationship with my Dad as adults, we would be celebrating what already was in place. I wish that some more people out there were diligent in trying to institute something so precious as that bond, like Camp Diva is doing. Nevertheless, my mission was to prove that it is never too late. As a grown woman with children of my own I’m making it my business to make something happen between my sisters, my dad, and I. Life is too short and I don’t have the time for “should’ve, could’ve, and would’ve”, I want to take advantage of these opportunities when they come. I didn’t know if I was going to even be able to afford to do it, but my trust that God was going to see me through, and it did, it saw me through that hotel, with two beautiful sisters and my handsome father in tow. So just when you think it’s not important for you to strive for life has a funny way of showing you, everything is worth it and more. Our experience is one for the books, a lifetime memory and a whole lot of love was in that room at the Marriot. Camp Diva did an awesome job in putting that together and creating a chance for fathers to make their daughters feel special. I can’t wait to attend next year; I hope that I see you at the table beside us.

Shout out to Melody Short (Artisan Café), Craig Watson (Lyric Ave), Rob (Peace Clothing) who I saw and spoke to that evening. A huge shout out to Angela Patton, Ayana, Lisa, and all the beautiful women of Camp Diva (Camp  Diva).

Goddess Body Health Series w/ Angela Baker: Dispelling Myths about Holistic Services and Herbal Treatments

Around this time of year so many people are interested in improving their lifestyle, their health, and let’s be honest…they want to look better naked. I am no exception to this, however this year I would prefer to make a permanent lifestyle change. It’s easy to jump on some trendy diet or detoxify, but harder to maintain it throughout the year. Who better to ask about detoxifying and changing your healthy eating habits, then a holistic health professional? Now don’t trip, if you look it up, you’d know that holistic health is just referring to the entire body, the whole person. Through healing the mind, body, spirit, and emotions holistic health professionals assist in helping us achieve optimal health and wellness. I decided to ask Richmond’s own Angela Baker to contribute information on the subject and answer some important questions about improving our lives and how the services and teachings she offer, can change us into better people inside and out. Angela was so thorough in her answers that we decided to make this a series. So check back often as we post information on a healthier lifestyle straight from GoddessBody herself, Angela Baker.

Today’s Question: Can you dispel any myths regarding holistic services and herbal regimen?

Like anything else, if you choose to consult an herbalist or any other alternative to the status quo medical/pharmaceutical industry do YOUR due diligence.  I would question this person’s education and experience.  I’d gauge the scientific level of understanding, and teaching the individual has a capacity for.  Are they just trying to sell you a product that they themselves aren’t sure how it works in the body?  Do they have any history working with people in a healing capacity?  Do they live a lifestyle conducive to the alternatives they are providing you?  This natural/holistic health industry is now becoming quite saturated with both individuals AND large industries who want to make a quick buck off the “health trend” that is slowly surging throughout the U.S.  People are becoming literally sick & tired of being sick & tired and want to know the root causes as to why they are experiencing ill health.  Prescription medicines cannot heal you of a disease; they can only manage it!  Nevertheless, your body CAN heal you of disease with the proper building blocks, discipline & mind-set, and many times assistance if you do not have the know how.  People also tend to confuse so-called metaphysical services with holistic/herbal services and become a little spooked from the media or other cultural/social stigmas dealing with utilizing herbs for witchcraft and that type of non-sense.  A true herbalist is a plant scientist.  All medicine utilized in the pharmaceutical industry came from a plant, period.  However, the plant (actually cellular parts of the plant) has now been synthesized, patented and distributed in a form that is extremely concentrated. Being that only microbiological/molecular aspects of the plants healing properties where utilized, in this process, drug makers must synthesize a way for that aspect to function outside of its natural environment.  The manufactured synthesized version now has toxic binders, and fillers which are necessary to “carry” the new “drug” to the part of your body it needs to manage; but it also produces deleterious “side affects”.  This doesn’t happen when you solely consume the plant, because nature already has it packaged in a way that will not harm the human body.  It’s organic, of nature, and the body recognizes it as such.  It may take longer to work, but this is why when consuming herbs it is best to eat a diet more conducive to cleansing, nourishing and strengthening.

English: Family Development Program (FDP) is a...

Family Development Program (FDP) is a holistic approach of improving the nutrition and health condition of families through the recognition of each and everyone’s responsibility to themselves, their families and community. (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

The term “wholistic” (also spelled “holistic”) refers to the embodiment of an entire being through the interrelatedness of the sum of its parts. This term denotes that one should view the current state of existence of any ‘entity’, be it a human, animal, car, the earth, etc. as an intricate expression of the state of whatever makes it up. So therefore, a holistic health practitioner such as myself,  would set forth a plan for optimal health and wellbeing by taking into consideration the health of one’s cells, organs, blood, emotions, thoughts, spirit, energy, and how the health of these varying facets of one’s being affect each other and the health of  one’s whole entire self ultimately. Wholistic (holistic) health is also known as mind, body, spirit science. In the western world, we tend to only focus on the tangible, what can be studied through manipulation, and take for granted how our health is affected by energy embedded in our thoughts, feelings, communications, and spirituality. Once again, the study of energy is a matter of physics, and nothing else!   Many people are scared of what they do not understand, and this is why I make it a mission, passion & purpose to provide folks the know how to feel and live a truly ‘whole’ fulfilling and abundant lifestyle by providing the EDUCATION on Body, Mind, & Spirit function, interrelatedness and dependence.

Getting Inspiration from Multiple Sclerosis: Joy Makes Me Move

She was my Spanish teacher in High School, a time that probably was the most confusing in my life. I didn’t really know who I was or what I wanted to do, all I knew that I needed to get out of my house. Everyday, I would come into her class with some crazy drama after another, most of the time taking attention away from the day’s lesson. She would shake her head at me, laughing behind her chic framed glasses, saying, “I’esha, you’re a trip!” I loved her, probably one of my favorite teachers ever. She was young, fun, and just the coolest person ever. I admired her so much. Her style, her confidence, her short hair, and her spunk, was something I wanted for myself when I reached her age. She held a sense of freedom and laughter that most of the teachers at that school seemed to have lost down the road. Her youthful spirit and her love for the kids that she taught made her standout among the other staff, which made her our favorite. Although she was great at her job, she didn’t hold back from being real either. She talked to us like the young adults we were and never pretended to be perfect. That characteristic alone made me realize the kind of person I wanted to be growing up.

2003 Huguenot High School: Voted Most Outgoing & Best Teacher

Little did I know that she suffered from Multiple Sclerosis (MS). She mentioned it briefly back then, but as a kid, I couldn’t even imagine researching it, let alone already knowing what it was. According to WebMd.com (http://www.webmd.com/multiple-sclerosis/default.htm), “Multiple Sclerosis affects the brain and spinal cord. Early symptoms of multiple sclerosis include weakness, tingling, numbness, and blurred vision. Other possible warning signs are muscle stiffness, thinking problems, and urinary problems. A multiple sclerosis diagnosis is made by the history of symptoms and a neurological exam, often with the help of tests such as an MRI or a spinal tap. No one’s sure what causes multiple sclerosis, but it may be hereditary. There’s no cure for multiple sclerosis, but treatment can relieve worsening of symptoms.”

I didn’t see any signs of it back in 2003. She appeared fine to me. She danced in class, she play fought with us, she jumped up, laughed, and had a ball every period we were sent there to learn the Spanish language. Fast forward to present day, many years have past, two marriages between us, and my two little boys in the living room watching us converse. She is limited physically, her body not moving as frequently and youthfully as it once did. Her speech is different, but her smile remains. Only in her thirties and this disease is trying to make her appear older than what she is, what I know her heart feels.

GaptoothDiva discusses MS and Her Inspiration Joy Ford GoddardI think about my life and the lives of all the people that I know. To lie and say that we don’t complain would be foolish. To pretend that we don’t get frustrated with our day to day, with the hustle and the grind, is blasphemy. While Joy, my beautiful friend and former Spanish teacher is confined to her home most days due to this illness, we have the ability to go outside and to be mobile. While she struggles to walk and often depends on her loving husband to assist her, we can do whatever our hearts desire. How shameful am I to have ever complained! God still manages to put a smile on her face, no tears or pity saturate her eyes and she often lacks the very thing that most of us take advantage of daily. The ability to move and be free.

When I think about how hard life is, and the struggle that even my own people seem to want to put me through, I have no choice but to fight. While she inspired me as a child, she still inspires me this very day. I think about how something we don’t even think about like MS can take the small things away from her like that, and how it could happen to anyone of us. Despite losing basic freedoms like wearing heels and going out, driving to the beach and having fun, running around with the children, she still smiles and still laughs. She still loves with all her heart and still cares. I tell myself everyday…

I must because Joy can’t

I must get up, I must keep going, I must not stop, I must not fall, I must love every minute of this struggle and enjoy the abilities that I have. I must because she can’t.

She is my inspiration. I saw her when she was different, I knew her before MS took over and I love her. I love her today, because when most of us would’ve been too in pain, to hurt, and too embarrassed to smile and laugh and reach out to friends. She keeps going. She keeps striving. When even the strongest of us would’ve given in to this disease and used it as a crutch, she is a fighter. Joy proves to me that if she can, I better! I had better strive, I had better fight, and I had better win… for JOY!

Facts About MS

More than 400,000 people in the United States have MS.

An estimated 2,500,000 around the world have MS.

About 45 percent of the people with MS are not severely affected by the disease.

Diagnosis of MS is usually between 20 and 40 years of age.

MS affects more women than men, with a ratio of 2:1.

About 85 percent of those who are newly diagnosed have the relapsing-remitting form of MS.

Without disease-modifying therapy, about 50 percent of those diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS will become progressive at 10 years.

Without disease-modifying therapy, about one-third of those diagnosed with relapsing-remitting MS will be using a wheelchair at 20 years.

MS does not significantly affect life span.

The course of the disease is unpredictable and no two people will experience the same set of symptoms.

There are four types of MS:  relapsing-remitting, secondary-progressive, primary progressive and progressive relapsing.

Among young adults, MS is the most common disease of the central nervous system.

Fatigue is one of the most common symptoms of MS.

MS is not contagious.

MS is a progressive disease for which there is not yet a cure.

Increased understanding of MS has led to the development of many new treatments that target both the disease process and its many symptoms.

In countries further from the equator, the incidence of MS increases.

Sclerosis is a Greek word meaning hardening of tissue or scars.

MS is not inherited or genetically transmitted, although there does seem to be some genetic susceptibility to the disease.

Today’s Question: You have gone from being plagued with various illnesses, to a vegan lifestyle. Do you suggest that women facing minor to severe health issues, change to a vegan lifestyle as well and why?

Vital nutrition from fresh foods is tantamount in any healing regimen.  The body exist as an optimal functioning entity only when each of its constituent parts are balanced, healthy & working in harmony within each of their own cells, tissues, organs, organ systems, and ultimately the human form.  Everything you eat becomes a part of you.  Your body breaks down the components of each meal and then disperses the molecules amongst various cells for building, repairing, energy, etc.  The better the fuel you provide the body to utilize for its own process, the higher the chance of an optimal running human experience & lifestyle.

When you eat poor quality foods you provide your body with subpar constituents in which to run  regular body functions i.e. blood pressure, cholesterol levels, swelling, fat metabolism, hormone balance, etc. all become imbalanced as a result of imbalance in various organs & tissues, which then causes imbalance in organ systems due to the stress from a diet devoid of vital nutrients.

Another important aspect of consuming a vegan diet is the fact that animal flesh (so called ‘meat’) contributes to acidity in the body.  Different parts of your body operate at an optimal capacity in different environments.  For instance, the stomach is part of the digestive system, which includes the large & small intestines, the liver and pancreas.  In order for the stomach to break down the large macromolecules that make-up your food, it has to operate in an acidic environment.  Acid provides substantial heat and breaks things down quickly.  However the blood & lymphatic system (your so called “immune system” , “defense system”, i.e. white blood cells), are part of the circulatory system and display their optimal functional capability at a slightly alkaline or basic pH (the measure of whether of not something is acidic or basic). The pH of a liquid or environment is measured on a scale of 1 – 14.  1 is the most acidic, 7 is neutral, 14 is the most basic (alkaline).  The pH of the blood should be about 7.4, which is slightly alkaline.  This is precisely why we should consume foods that enhance and sustain that slightly alkaline state of our circulatory system.  The functioning of the circulatory system can create a state of health radiance or degeneration in the human body.  The circulatory system becomes polluted due to toxic compounds that were broken down from constant & consistent consumption of food that contributed to an acidic in environment in the body, such as animal flesh; chemical preservative laden boxed, “packaged”, long shelf-life foodstuff; canned lifeless foods; and Cow’s milk made for baby calves not adult humans. In order to rid the blood of such toxic dis-ease causing conditions, one must consume foods that provide cleansing, strengthening, & nourishing capabilities i.e. fresh fruits, vegetables, fresh organic grains, beans nuts, seeds, and Nut milks like almond and coconut milk.  Click here to view the actual pH scale with acid & alkalinity levels for your favorite foods!

pH scale with acid and alkalinity levels

Another contributing factor to the unnecessary/unhealthy consumption of Animal flesh is that it’s kept preserved by a host of chemical components in order to prevent the natural decay process that would take place if that same flesh were left outside on the sidewalk.  It is kept bright red for red meat or pale pink for chicken, with the addition of dyes and chemical acidic preservatives.  Then, guess what? You cook it!  Yep!  What happens when animal flesh on the road gets heated by the sun? It speeds up the decomposition process!  So, that’s exactly what you’re doing in your pot!  You speed up the decomposition of the meat by cooking it and the blood becomes light yellow PUS! ACIDIC ANIMAL PUS! And you got the nerve to call it “tha juices”!! LOL!

Don’t feel bad, I was there, everyday eating animal flesh acidic pus too!  And it contributed to uterine cyst and kidney issues, Anxiety & depression.  Animal flesh combined with other acid producing foods and drinks, and habits (smoking), create an overly acidic environment throughout the blood, then throughout the body creating dis-ease, ailments, and imbalances of the various organs and tissues.

The only things on God’s green earth that can truly aid in the healing process of the body’s natural self-regenerating abilities are plant-based remedial.  Plants i.e. herbs, vegetables, fruits, legumes, fresh grains, nuts, seeds, oils, all contribute an alkaline (basic) environment to the blood and cells of the body.  The fresher the more nutritional content and live enzymes are provided to the body.  Enzymes are proteins that speed up chemical reactions in the body.  Meaning they make things happen faster & more efficiently.  The body has it’s own process for creating vital enzymes to aid in vital life processes, however, so does live fresh fruits & vegetables.  Live fresh fruits and vegetables are the only foods that provide enzymes in a vital form, which the body can assimilate to use in vital life functions.  This allows your body to operate with energy reserves instead of utilizing more of its own energy needed to processes food and information.  This creates an “energy surplus” which you usually see in people who consume a vegan, or plant based fresh food diet.  Everything becomes to run more optimally.  The food provides the body with building blocks that can optimally rebuild damaged organs or rid ailments/dis-eases.  These vital life foods provide whole-some whol-listic benefits as they are both strengthening, nourishing and rebuilding (vegetables), but also cleansing, detoxifying, and balancing of pH/temperature/water (fruits).  THEREFORE, if you are experiencing any ailment, this lifestyle when implemented properly, will always assist the body in its vital life recovering/healing process, and would be the first step towards optimal health & wellness.

Goddess Body Health Series w/ Angela Baker: Untold Natural Solutions to Healthy Hair, Skin and Nails

Angela was so thorough in her answers that we decided to make this a series. So check back often as we post information on a healthier lifestyle straight from GoddessBody herself, Angela Baker.

Today’s Question: What are some natural solutions to healthy hair, skin, and nails that aren’t frequently depicted in mainstream media and advertisement?

The health of your skin is manifested through the health of your blood & liver. The fewer amounts of toxic compounds, and acidity carried in the blood, the less pimples, acne, rashes, dry skin conditions will manifest. If your liver (the major detoxifying organ of the body) is in overload due to processing all the toxic crap you’re consuming; then your blood will have higher concentrations of acidity & toxicity, leading to skin ailments, and other health issues down the line.   Therefore once again, it starts with what you eat!  Sure not ALL hair, skin, and nail issues are directly correlated to your food, but over 75% is! Try cleansing the blood & liver with a 100% herbal based detox/cleanse that focuses on full body cleansing, not just liver cleansing.  Here is a yummy fresh vegetable juice cocktail with ingredients known to help cleanse the blood and stimulate optimal liver function: Blend (preferably juice, with a juicer), kale, celery, cucumber, apple, ginger, lemon and consume daily until you see a difference on your skin.

In addition, when we think of maintaining our tresses (hair) we usually resort to products to apply to the scalp or hair shafts. However, the roots grow from the inside out! The health of your hair is DIRECTLY interrelated with what you EAT! Plants that have scientific name celery Apium Grafeolens (a.k.a celery lol) also have a large contribution to the world of beauty. Juicing the leaves & stems have been proven to stimulate hair growth, while nourishing and maintaining healthy hair! Try this celery blend 3X a week to ensure beautiful tresses from the inside out: 4 stalks celery, 1 bunch cilantro or parsley, handful of kale or collards and 2 green apples.  There are also some great herbs in nature that aid in remedying hair, skin & nail issues, stimulating hair to grow, & clarifying your skin and nails.  Herbs such as rosemary, nettle, and sage have been clinically tested and traditionally used of centuries to stimulate healthy hair growth and prevent issues in these areas.  I have also created a Hair, Skin, & Nails Loose Leaf Herbal Tea Blend with these herbs and many others.  This herbal blend consists of plants which assist in the sustained growth, nourishment, and strengthening of hair and scalp, from roots to tip. The vitamins and minerals found in this herbal blend also aid in the beautification and clarification of the skin. When ingested regularly, the herbal compounds cleanse the blood and skin cells of toxic debris and other insalubrious compounds that cause dull skin and excess breakouts. The selected plants also strengthen and add natural clarity to nails & cuticles.

Even though majorities of skin ailments are derived from one’s diet, we cannot fail to take into consideration the fact that our skin is actually the largest organ of the human body and absorbs high levels of substances with which it comes into contact. By using natural and organic products on our skin, we can drastically reduce the amount of toxic chemicals we absorb & benefit from an enormous range of natural products, many of which have been used effectively for hundreds of years. I also carry a host of 100% natural body products including all natural butters, oils, hygiene products etc.  100% Natural body products will help to HEAL your body of a myriad of skin, & hair issues, & provide natural healthy maintenance to your body.

Goddess Body Health Series w/ Angela Baker: The Foods You Should Eat To Change Your Life, Even If you’re a Low Income Family

Today’s Question: Which foods do you believe we should consume more? (Include examples of foods that most African Americans, especially low-income families may not know recipes for)

It’s pretty simple, the fresher the better, period.  It’s really not about recipes, until you get into really enjoying the lifestyle, it’s all about balance.  Instead of eating canned corn, beans, rice, potatoes, fruits, etc. because its convenient (and will ultimately conveniently cause an untimely death or dis-ease) opt for fresh fruits, fresh corn on the cob, & prepare your on bean, lentils, potatoes, and grains from scratch.  People complain so much about not having the time to do the things that are important for you an your families health and wellbeing.  Make the time; prepare food while watching your favorite desperate housewife.  We also need to introduce a lot more raw unadulterated foods into our diets.  You can start by simply eating raw salads daily, as a meal on its own and as side options with your other meals.   For instance, you should always eat cleansing foods in the mourning not heavy foods.  The first food you should consume in the morning is water! At least 2 glasses.  The word “breakfast” literally means to “break” a “fast”!  You were sleeping for a number of hours, without foods, so the first thing you should do when breaking a fast to to consume water.  This allows for proper assimilation of your morning meal.  The cleansing foods are your fruits, therefore a breakfast should consist of MAJORITY fruits ie. Grapes, apples, pears, cherries, oranges, tangerines, bananas, kiwi, melons, strawberries, all berries, etc. (at least 50%).   Fruit smoothies are also very good as a morning meal or in addition to breakfast or just as a healthy snack. After breakfast, you should have a large vegetable-based salad for lunch, or for starters, just add a vegetable-based side salad to your lunch or dinner meal.  You may keep the salad ingredients plain jane or deck it out with a HOST of raw veggies i.e. lettuce (anything but iceberg, its simply devoid of nutrients), spinach leaves, broccoli, carrots, radish, tomatoes, avocado, sprouts, celery, pico de gallo, onions, cucumber, sunflower or flax seeds, healthy dressing oils (organic ones, as they do not carry heavy loads of  toxic preservatives) etc.

We must learn to experiment with different tastes, looks, and foods textures.   Nobody said because your eating healthier it had to taste bad.  Season your food to your liking, except opt for healthier options.  Like I said the fresher the better, as in the less chemical preservatives the better.  When it comes to condiments, vegan based and organic is always best.  So instead of ketchup laden with high-fructose corn syrup, pick the organic ketchup with solely tomatoes and other wholesome ingredients.  Instead of season salt, opt for fresh herbs or solely herbal based seasonings like the Mrs. Dash brand.  Instead of  Salt utilize sea salt, or even better pink Himalayan salt, or liquid aminos.  Instead of refined white or brown sugar, utilize agave, raw honey, coconut sugar, or stevia which are ALL natural sweeteners that are way better for your body than the drug refined white sugar.  It pays to READ ingredient labels on the BACK of food products.  Therefore if your pockets can’t afford a host of organic condiments and flavor enhancers, then at least choose the brand that does not have ingredients like high fructose corn syrup, or excessive salt and sugar, or hydrogenated oils.   I actually offer a holistic grocery shopping workshop where I teach folks how to eat healthier, save money, and lose weight (or heal from various illnesses), all at the same time!

Transitioning to a healthy, nearly all-organic, whole foods diet & overall green living is a major factor in permanent weight (waste) loss, and mental & emotional well-being.  You learn what foods, drinks & other essentials to utilize to detoxify and lead a healthy healing lifestyle without breaking the bank; actually, the only thing that will fatten up is your wallet due to the monetary savings of eating well!  Click here to view the details of this affordable, educational workshop.  However, Black folks tend to be very conservative.  We don’t like too much change too fast as a culture.  We tend to be very calculated and strategic about the wrong things.  If we could apply that natural genetic strategic predisposition to a healthy lifestyle then we wouldn’t be #1 on America‘s negative health trends list for the past 2-3 decades.

Are You Trying To Be a Better Woman? How Having that 31 Status Is Creating a Better Life for Me

GaptoothDiva discusses how inspiring proverbs 31 is to women and thier livesI feel funny writing this, because as off the chain as I can be at times, people don’t realize that I do strive daily to be a better woman, servant, wife, and mother. It’s hard when you have people provoke you, you allow yourself to be stressed and fazed, or you feel overwhelmed. It’s easier to go crazy, to snap, to drink or smoke, and to lose sight of why you’re here in the first place. However, lately I’m finding that my only sense of peace comes from knowing that I diligently pursued happiness by any means necessary. I’m only content when I believe in my heart that I pleased my Creator in some way by being the best person I could be to the people around me. I keep saying that I’m not perfect; I do have my “ratchet” ways at times, please don’t make me mad. Lol. Nevertheless, growth and progress comes from knowing that as you go all-out to be a better woman on a daily basis, similar to exercise, you will see that “ratchetness” occur in your life less often. I think that’s all God wants anyway, for us to at least try, not judge, but try to be better people individually. So, while we attempt to improve our own lives, hopefully people can be inspired by that and make every effort in their own lives as well.

Earlier I came across 31 Status (http://www.31status.com/) a movement created to show women how to live a Proverbs 31 kind of lifestyle. I found this to be one of the most inspiring things I ever seen. These women collectively decided to motivate other women, to be better women. It’s not a race, a competition, or a battle; it’s a unified pursuit to improve each other. I want something like this in Richmond, Virginia. It seems everyone is hustling to get that business started, trying to blow up, attempting to be the next big thing out of RVA. However, if we collaborate to improve what’s internal, I know for a fact that everything on the outside and all around us, will undoubtedly become better. I’m living proof. Talk to anybody who knew me prior to last year. They’ll say I was off the chain, but as I read more, got closer to God, and I started to value my time and myself, I’m not that woman anymore. Proverbs 31 teaches us to become better individuals. I don’t want to preach to you, because you can read it for yourself. However, you have no idea how much faith plays a big part on the blessings we receive.

10 Virtues of the Proverbs 31 Woman

1. Faith - A Virtuous Woman serves God with all of her heart, mind, and soul. She seeks His will for her life and follows His ways. (Proverbs 31: 26, Proverbs 31: 29 – 31, Matthew 22: 37, John 14: 15, Psalm 119: 15

2. Marriage – A Virtuous Woman respects her husband. She does him good all the days of her life. She is trustworthy and a helpmeet. (Proverbs 31: 11- 12, Proverbs 31: 23, Proverbs 31: 28, 1 Peter 3, Ephesians 5, Genesis2: 18)

3.  Mothering - A Virtuous Woman teaches her children the ways of her Father in heaven. She nurtures her children with the love of Christ, disciplines them with care and wisdom, and trains them in the way they should go. (Proverbs 31: 28, Proverbs 31: 26, Proverbs 22: 6, Deuteronomy 6, Luke 18: 16)

4. Health – A Virtuous Woman cares for her body. She prepares healthy food for her family. (Proverbs 31: 14 – 15, Proverbs 31: 17, 1 Corinthians 6: 19, Genesis 1: 29, Daniel 1, Leviticus 11)

5. Service - A Virtuous Woman serves her husband, her family, her friends, and her neighbors with a gentle and loving spirit. She is charitable. (Proverbs 31: 12, Proverbs 31: 15, Proverbs 31: 20, 1 Corinthians 13: 13)

6. Finances - A Virtuous Woman seeks her husband’s approval before making purchases and spends money wisely. She is careful to purchase quality items which her family needs. (Proverbs 31: 14, Proverbs 31: 16, Proverbs 31: 18, 1 Timothy 6: 10, Ephesians 5: 23, Deuteronomy 14: 22, Numbers 18: 26)

7.  Industry – A Virtuous Woman works willingly with her hands. She sings praises to God and does not grumble while completing her tasks. (Proverbs 31: 13, Proverbs 31: 16, Proverbs 31: 24, Proverbs 31: 31, Philippians 2: 14)

8. Homemaking – A Virtuous Woman is a homemaker. She creates an inviting atmosphere of warmth and love for her family and guests. She uses hospitality to minister to those around her. (Proverbs 31: 15, Proverbs 31: 20 – 22, Proverbs 31: 27, Titus 2: 5, 1 Peter 4: 9, Hebrews 13: 2)

9. Time - A Virtuous Woman uses her time wisely. She works diligently to complete her daily tasks. She does not spend time dwelling on those things that do not please the Lord. (Proverbs 31: 13, Proverbs 31: 19, Proverbs 31: 27, Ecclesiastes 3, Proverbs 16: 9, Philippians 4:8 )

10. Beauty – A Virtuous Woman is a woman of worth and beauty. She has the inner beauty that only comes from Christ. She uses her creativity and sense of style to create beauty in her life and the lives of her loved ones. (Proverbs 31: 10Proverbs 31: 21 – 22, Proverbs 31: 24 -25, Isaiah 61: 10, 1 Timothy 2: 9, 1 Peter 3: 1 – 6)

Now which one of you wouldn’t want to be this type of woman?

I’ll wait…

Exactly! I’m working on trying to inspire myself and other women to be more of an example for other women. People will get angry and say we’re stuck up and bourgeois (bougey) but we know whom we are. Inspiration can come in all forms, so as people talk crazy about for living as if we are worth more and we’re blessed, they’ll eventually start to conform and see that blessings are coming our way. Therefore, they will begin to convert in the Proverbs 31 type of woman as well.

Check out this video from Janette “31 to be Exact” 31 Status Spoken Word

I’m excited to go on this journey and allow you to rock with me. No judgement! We are imperfect human beings, but our love and desire to please God is unyielding.

Goddess Body Health Series w/ Angela Baker: The Foods That Contribute To an Unhealthy Lifestyle for African Americans

Today’s Question: Which foods and drinks (in your opinion and expertise) do you believe contribute to the vast amount of unhealthy living within the African American community?

Aside from the fact that we live such a fast-paced society, and many American families opt for the microwave dinners, fast foods, or convenience foods like boxed foods & canned foods.  African Americans take the cake (literally) as having somewhat of a tradition of eating slave foods.  Yes, chitterlings are slave foods.  Your ancestors ate Massa’s left overs, the bad stuff, the foods nobody else wanted as a means of SURVIVAL. Helllooo, we are no longer there.  They fought and died for our right to have options, and have the freedom to make food and lifestyle choices.  However, we never quite came off the fat-laden, deep fried, a.k.a soul food agenda.  The current state of African-American health as a whole is degenerative, and highest in ALL negative trending health categories.  This is not because we do not have the options, we just haven’t been taught the connections of  how what we eat plays a vital role in  the current reality we’re experiencing.  We don’t understand how everything we consume affects our mental capacity.  Neurons, nerve cells, are what communicate with each other in the brain to relay thoughts and information.  They are cells, and they too need nourishment.  If you feed the body bullshit, then guess what, you begin to not only damage cells, but starve them of vital nutrients necessary to function.  In the case of nerve cells, their function becomes impaired and you do not think clearly, as you normally would or should, you may develop mental illness or succumb to events that normally you would have no parts of.  Think of EVERYTHING the brain does for your body! If you consistently eat B.S. You do your entire body a disservice.  The brain and its components are not OUTSIDE of the body! Think people, if you still can ;-)

Junk food & drink stall

Alcohol abuse also is glorified and runs rampant in our community.  However, the setup of liquor stores in and around inner cities is an entirely different issue altogether.  Black folks also LOVE DAIRY!!!  Especially African-American Women.  Dairy is the number one contributor to cyst, fibroids and hormonal imbalance.  Over 95% of people of African-descent are lactose-intolerant.  This is a biological fact, Google it if you do not believe me ;-)   .  Consistent over consumption of dairy products (anything derived from the cow i.e.  cow milk, cow cheese, cow milk based iced-creams, foods with cow milk added to it etc.) also leads to an acidic environment in the blood as we discussed in question #1.  We must re-educate ourselves on what proper nutrition truly is.  What foods truly enhance our states of health and well-being? We can totally prevent heart disease, high cholesterol, diabetes, hypertension, digestive system illnesses, cysts & fibroids, etc.  There’s an entire holistic re-programming that must go on in the African-American community in order for us to truly experience great health and high achieving global accomplishments, as a people, once again (I’m well aware that ALL flack folks do NOT fall under these categories, but a majority of us here in the U.S. do.  Do not shoot the messenger, just utilize the message).

My Lifestyle: DashA’veri Vintage & Thrifted Redesigns Launches 2/11/2013

I'esha Hornes: GaptoothDiva's Online Vintage & Thrift StoreFighting back tears, I finally just said, “I’m going to do it!”

I love thrifting, I love vintage, and I love DIY and collecting unique items. I love it so much that the Hubs had to ask me to scale back on the haul videos, because he didn’t want me to look like a hoarder with a shopping disorder, his exact words. Lol. Despite having a passion for something, I’m not going to front and pretend I wasn’t scared just a little. Now, don’t trip, because my faith is strong. Nevertheless, like anything you love and appreciate, you want to see it succeed.

I'esha Hornes: GaptoothDiva's Online Vintage & Thrift StoreTherefore, I’ve created DashA’veri, named after my two boys (and my motivations) which is a Vintage and Thrift Shop online, for the bold, creative, quirky, and fierce.  I understand that I’m putting it out there and that you’ll either love it or you won’t, I just hope that the creative side in you, finds something that you want. If you don’t… we do customize and bring YOUR old items back to life as well. So regardless, you can utilize DashA’veri for all your thrifting, vintage, and creative styling needs. It doesn’t just stop with clothing, we are venturing in accessories, and home décor as well. So you can understand why I’m running around like a chicken with my head cut off. So while I’m still blogging, writing, doing interviews, reviews and more, I will now have an online vintage and thrift shop for you to shop for creative and quirky pieces.

I'esha Hornes: GaptoothDiva's Online Vintage & Thrift Store

I'esha Hornes: GaptoothDiva's Online Vintage & Thrift StoreI love this, though. I can’t deny that this rush of venturing into online retail is making me feel some kind of good. It’s something about being fearless and presenting your secret love to the world to see, to judge, to critique, and/or admire that makes me feel stronger. Whether I want it or not I know some people will hate, but I’m not talking to them. I’m talking to the people who supported me, that understand that I’m trying to promote the way WE think. That everything beautiful is NOT trendy, name brand, or perfect. That fashion is a lifestyle of creativity and individuality, to be beautiful to those that can receive and understand your purpose, not the majority. DashA’veri will represent that. My online store is for those that like wearing something different. The people who enjoy feeling creatively inspired and love color, prints, funky embellishments, etc. My store is for the girl who saw that weird sweater and wanted it, just because. Moreover, the great thing is I keep it cost-effective as well, because we all are trying to make something amazing with little to no way of doing it. By making broke look chic, we throw caution to the wind and dress how we want.

Check out the video from my very first model call/shoot with photographer Amor Jay.  It was awesome!

I can’t wait to debut the store to you all and I look forward to sharing new creations and items with you here, on Instagram, Twitter, Facebook, Youtube and everywhere else. I want you to know that your style isn’t constructed out of a bunch of rules and regulations; it’s as limitless as your creativity. DashA’veri is here to support that.

Goddess Body Health Series w/ Angela Baker: The Best Way to Diet, Detoxify and/or Fast to Lose Weight and Change Your Lifestyle

Today’s Question: With so many women attempting to change their eating habits (i.e. diets, fasting, and detoxifying) for the New Year, what do you believe to be some of the most beneficial ways for them to get the best results?

Consistency.  Be consistent.  No matter if your goals are to drop a couple pounds, to gain more energy, to rid yourself of some health ailment, to release a large sum of weight, to tone and get in shape, or even to be more disciplined.  The key is consistency.  Anything you do repetitively overtime becomes a habit.  Many of us are slightly unaware of what got us to our current states of being overweight, obese, anxious, depressed, unhappy, lethargic, unmotivated, etc.  This is do to the fact that we took unconscious steps towards these realities by CONSISTENTLY procrastinating, by consistently eating junk/fast/fat-laden/refined sugar/bleached white flour/ acidic contributing food, by consistently smoking, by consistently worrying about things we cannot control, by consistently giving into negative foods, thoughts, emotions, and people.  The key to attaining ANY goal in life, is to be Consistent!  You have to begin to make a CONSISTENT CONSCIOUS effort to attain your goals.  These goals should be at the forefront of your mind. Stop making excuses as to why you can’t exercise today; you always have time to attempt 10 squats, 10 sit-ups, and jogging in place for instance.  If you do not get in a full-blown workout during the day, you should still attempt to do SOMETHING.  Exercise for 10-15 minutes consistently, daily will show more results in 6 months, than doing a 45 min- 2hour fitness routine only once a week.  Exercise is simply training your muscle cells to respond to stress by forcing them to adapt to a more physical environment.  Therefore, they get bigger, stronger, and more flexible.  They are used to being under worked, and will be sore initially, but don’t let that deter you from being consistent.

The same holds true for your dietary regimen.

Every time you put food into your mouth ask yourself, “Is this food going to aid my positive body transformation?”, “Does this food aid in vital life sustaining properties?”, “Will I feel guilty, anxious, or dishonest about consuming this meal?”.  Your body is a temple for your spirit.  You should CONSISTENTLY provide your temple (holy dwelling) with foods that will only add to its optimal functioning & beautification.

Starving yourself to loose weight is an extremely unhealthy process, as the only intent involved is in vanity.  You will gain the weight back, and slow your body metabolism.  However, fasting and starving oneself are very different.  People tend to use the term Fasting in many different scenarios. Just so we are on the same page, fasting is the consumption of SOLELY water or NOTHING at all.  The terms ‘Juice Fasting‘ or ‘Raw Foods Fast‘ are inherently incorrect, as you are still consuming forms of food, which provide nutrients & energy.   Fasting can & most likely will yield weight loss, but should be used more as a tool for self-healing, spiritual heightening, and creating and maintaining discipline.  The premise is if you deprive your body of things that are vital & good i.e. food, sexual intercourse, forms of media, etc. then you will create a state of mind that has the ability to easily reject non-life enhancing foods and environments.  Fasting creates a more disciplined mind and spirit, while giving the body a much-needed rest from a toxic onslaught of food and other toxic stimulatives.  Now juicing is a form of detoxification, it’s providing the body with essential nutrients and fuel that’ll cleanse the system, and provide building blocks that can aid the natural regenerative capabilities of the body.  Another form of detoxing is consuming raw juices as well as raw vegan foods (uncooked fruits & veggies).  This is also an awesome way to catapult the body into its natural healing processes by cleansing the system, and rebuilding damaged cells.  Many people actually consume 100% raw vegan diets as a lifestyle and live happy healthy lives.

The Goddess Body Cleanse® is a women’s herbal detox system I created, where one must consume majority raw vegan cuisine for 21 days along with herbal blends that further push the body into states optimal functioning.  The benefits include: clearer skin, weight loss (waste) releasing 5-45 pounds, enhanced energy levels, Eliminates parasites & worms, Balances female related organs & hormones regulated blood pressure, cholesterol etc., regularity of bowel, Enhanced mental acuity, focus, & concentration eradication of cravings (especially sugar, junk food, etc.), & much much more! These 21 days of cleansing will surely take you to new heights of self-awareness, & body mind spirit transformation.  You can learn more about what it comes with and each herbal component of the cleanse by clicking here.

If after cleansing you choose not wish to continue a vegan diet, I would err towards consuming a healthy wholesome balanced fresh food based eating regimen, where your plate consists of AT LEAST 50% fruits and/veggies (Raw, lightly steamed, or lightly stir fried on occasion EVOL).  I would also be sure to limit if not totally rid your diet of the following (listed from most acid & dis-ease contributing to least):

- Red meat (contributes high amounts of Uric acid, toxic waste product);

- Pork (contributes to high EVERYTHING, cholesterol, blood pressure, and introduces worms and parasites);

- Chicken/poultry (one of the most genetically modified, and hormone laced animals)

- Fish (probably the healthiest ‘meat’ due to the Omega fatty acid content, however the fish supplies still contain loads of mercury due to environmental toxins, and dis-eases as a by-product of farming techniques.)

Looking for an Alternative to Inclement Weather Fashion? Cold Wet Days May Be Over w/ RAINRAPS

GaptoothDiva reviews RAINRAPS fashionable all weather outerwearWhat started as a simple idea on a rainy day, RAINRAPS™ became the newest creation of New York transplant, Stacy Struminger. Currently residing in Richmond, Virginia Stacy saw a need for a more stylish, lightweight, waterproof accessory in the often wet and humid Richmond climate.

After a frustrating and long rainstorm back in 2011, Stacy realized she had difficulty finding something waterproof to wear outdoors. She shared her idea for a stylish weather resistant wrap with her friend, Rachel Teyssier. The two both decided to turn their great idea into an even greater venture to sell fashionable waterproof outerwear, called RAINRAPS.

As a self-employed/stay-at-home mother, it’s important for me to dress appropriately for the weather. If I get sick, this completely fabulous operation crumbles, so a diva must keep warm and still remain stylish. I think the concept of the RAINRAPS would be beneficial to all women, whether you’re traveling to and from your 9 to 5, school and the gym, or if you’re just picking the children up from practice. I love the various colors available, and how these ambitious ladies displayed great examples of how to wear this original design for those interested in its appeal. The website indicates that you can wear it all year round, making it practical for the consumer. It is also light, durable, fast drying and easy to store away, especially handy for those of us trying to juggle diaper bags, strollers and handbags during the day.

GaptoothDiva reviews RAINRAPS fashionable all weather outerwearQuick Facts About the RAINRAP ™:

Travel friendly (folds up to fit in a handbag and/or suitcase)

Fashionable/Stylish

One Size Fits All

Reversible

100% Polyester

GaptoothDiva: What or who inspired you to create the RAINRAP? Did you come across any obstacles while doing so?

Stacy and Rachel: The hot, humid, rainy weather inspired us to create the RAINRAP. We were tired of having wet clothes in air-conditioned buildings. We had many obstacles in the process of creating the RAINRAP, but none that we couldn’t overcome. The first was finding out that no one in the United States manufactured the waterproof fabric that we fell in love with.

GaptoothDiva: Does it come with some type of bag or carry case? (In the event that it’s wet when I take it off, how do I put it away without wetting the contents of my purse)?

Stacy and Rachel: Our new, hooded RAINRAP comes with a convenient travel pouch that fits just about anywhere. It fits in your purse, briefcase, glove compartment… you name it!

GaptoothDiva: I see it comes in a variety of colors; will I be able to get a customized RAINRAP?

Stacy and Rachel: One day that will be a wonderful, fun addition to our site, but for now you will have to trust us to pick the most fashionable, practical colors for your wardrobe.

GaptoothDiva: What is the overall response from the public regarding the RAINRAP?

Stacy and Rachel: People are thrilled at how soft and rich the fabric feels and how lightweight and compact they are. We are finding that our happy customers want to share their find with their friends and family and we just love sending gifts from our customers to our new customers. Spread the love! We have the best customers and we are so thankful for that!

GaptoothDiva: What can we expect from the two of you in the future?

Stacy and Rachel: Oh, we cannot reveal what we have stirring in the pot, but we just received our samples and we are so excited! Like us on Facebook and be the first to see!

GaptoothDiva: Will do and great job on a fantastic design and stylish colors. I wish you nothing but success in the future. :-)
